Myrtle Beach Thunderboltz News Release

JOHNSTOWN, PA – For the second straight night the Pee Dee Pride and Johnstown Chiefs went to overtime at the Cambria County War Memorial Arena on Saturday. Unlike Friday's game, which the Pride won in overtime, this game went to the shootout. Like Friday's game, it was the Pride coming out on top, 5-4.

Pee Dee scored three goals on four shootout attempts, while Johnstown was scoreless on three shots.

The Pride scored the first goal of the night at 7:09 of the opening period. Brian Collins made a great individual effort, skating up the right-wing side, and getting around a Brent Kelly check. Collins was able to sneak the puck through the five hole of goaltender David Currie for his third goal of the season.

Johnstown tied it at the 12:59 mark of the first period. David Bowman's pass from the left point was right on the stick of Joe Tallari on the far post, and Tallari was able to tip it past Nick Boucher for his first goal of the year.

The Chiefs took their first lead of the night at 15:44 of the second. Sebastien Laplante, who replaced Boucher at the start of the second period, stopped two quick shots in close, but the third shot was tucked inside the near post by Shawn Mather, his third goal of the year.

The Pride tied the game just 29 seconds into the third period. On a power play, Michael Chin gathered in a loose puck on the far post and tucked it past Currie for his second goal of the year.

But, the tie would not last long as the Chiefs went right back on top at 2:06. Jean Desrochers streaked down the right wing side, and beat Laplante with a quick back-hand shot.

Collins tied the game at 3 with his second goal, and third point, of the night at 7:09. Skating shorthanded, Collins carried the puck across the Johnstown line and ripped a wrist shot past Currie.

Once again, the Chiefs came right back to go back on top 4-3. Laplante made a good save, reaching behind him, but the rebound came free in the slot, and Steven Hildenbrand roofed a shot top shelf for his first goal of the season.

The Pride tied the game at 4 with 3:40 remaining in regulation. Gregg Johnson won a faceoff inside the Johnstown end to Kevin Cooper on the far boards. Cooper dropped a perfect pass to Jan Vodrazka at the left point. The Pride captain blasted a shot past Currie for his first score of the year.

Pee Dee returns to action Tuesday night, hosting Greenville with a special early start time of 6:00 p.m. Tickets are available at the Florence Civic Center Box Office, or through TicketMaster at (843) 679-9333 or _www.ticketmaster.com
