ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (June 11, 2003) â Damian Sapp hit two home runs and drove in five to lead the potent Pride offense to a 18-8 victory over the Atlantic City Surf, Wednesday evening at the Sandcastle.
Nashua's 18 runs on 18 hits tied the mark for the most runs allowed in Surf history, set in 1999 vs. Nashua.
The Pride immediately jumped on Surf starter Andy High, tagging him for six runs in the first two innings, highlighted by Damian Sapp's two run homer in the first and a two-run single off the bat of David Francia in the second.
Nashua continued to pound High and reliever Rene Vega for six runs in the fourth inning to take a 12-3 lead. The big hit for the Pride was Sapp's second home run of the game, a three-run shot that cleared the scoreboard in left field, off Vega.
Emison Soto capped off a four-run fourth inning for the Surf with a three-run home run.
High (3-3) lasted just three innings, allowing nine runs, seven earned, on eight hits while striking out two and walking one.
Brandon Jackson went 3-4 with two doubles and an RBI to extend his league-leading on-base streak to 28 consecutive games.
Enohel Polanco and Raul Marval added three hits apiece for the Surf.
Francia led Nashua with a 4-5 night and two RBI while Tim Garland went 3-3 with three RBI and three runs scored, including a two-run home run.
ON DECK: The Surf and the Pride conclude their series with a 6:35 p.m., contest on Thursday, June 12, at the Sandcastle. It will be New Jersey Education Association (NJEA) member appreciation night â members get free admission with a valid NJEA member identification card.
