Newark Bears News Release

NEWARK, NJ, June 11-Newark Bears general manager Chris Bryan announced today that the team has sold the contract of infielder Jack Santora to the Philadelphia Phillies organization. The Phillies have assigned Santora to the Lakewood Blue Claws in the South Atlantic League.

"We are very happy that Jack is getting another chance to play for an affiliated organization," said Bryan. "He did a terrific job while he was here in Newark and he will be missed a great deal."

Santora, who has been among the top ten in the Atlantic League batting race all season long, was batting .321 for the Bears with 1 home run, 6 doubles, 3 triples and 10 RBI. He was tied for the league lead in triples and had produced a team-best 11 multiple hit games this season.

The 26 year-old Santora is in his 5th season of professional baseball. He had spent the first four years of his career in the Arizona Diamondbacks organization.
