NEWS & NOTES:
Ice Cold: It was a tough two game set for the Wheat Kings losing their third straight, most recently back to back losses at the hands of the star studded Winnipeg Ice. The Wheat Kings appeared to have an upset in the making last Saturday night holding onto a 3-2 lead in the third but the Ice would storm back and score a pair to pick up the regulation win.
Bear Hunting: The Everett Silvertips come to Brandon for the first time since October of 2018, it's been over 4 years since the Tips played inside Westoba Place. Brandon is just the midway point of a long 6 game road trip for the Silvertips which began in Moose Jaw & Regina last weekend, Winnipeg Tuesday night and will finish off in Saskatoon & Prince Albert before making the 20 hour trek back to Washington State next Sunday morning. In their last meeting the Silvertips defeated the Wheat Kings 3-2 in Everett. Jake Chiasson & Nolan Ritchie were just 16 and 17 years old playing against a younger Olen Zellweger for the Silvertips. Fast forward to Wednesday November 2nd, 2020, Nolan Ritchie is the overage Captain of the Wheat Kings, Jake Chiasson & Olen Zellweger are now NHL draft picks.
Top Prospect Debut: We should see Joby Baumuller suit up for his 1st career WHL game Wednesday night. Baumuller was the top draft pick by the Wheat Kings in the 2022 Prospects Draft last Spring.
Milestone Watch: Forwards Rylen Roersma will suit up in his 100th career WHL game. Brett Hyland will suit up in his 99th career WHL game.
