November 1, 2022 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Tri-City Americans News Release
KENNEWICK, WA - The Western Hockey League announced their first monthly award winners for the 2022-23 season, and Americans forward Jordan Gavin was named the league's Rookie of the Month.
Gavin, from Surrey, B.C., appeared in all 12 games for the Americans in September and October, scoring 14 points (3-11-14) to help Tri-City to a 6-6 record.
Drafted with the second overall pick in the 2021 WHL Prospects Draft, Gavin's biggest performance came on October 8 when he scored two goals and added two assists in the Americans' 7-1 win over the Edmonton Oil Kings.
By finding the back of the net in the third period against the Regina Pats on Sunday, Gavin extended his point streak to five games.
Following Sunday's game, Gavin left to join Team Canada Black at the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge in Langley and Delta, B.C., where he will be until the tournament ends on November 12.
A late 2006-born player (November 13), Gavin isn't eligible for the NHL Draft until 2025. He is the third-youngest full-time skater in the WHL, trailing only Jonas Woo (November 19) of the Winnipeg ICE and Lynden Lakovic (December 12) of the Moose Jaw Warriors.
