Preview: Tri-City Set to Defend Home Ice Tonight against Rival Omaha

Kearney, NE. - The Tri-City Storm returns to action tonight at the Viaero Center in Kearney in a battle against in state rival Omaha. Tonight's promotion is "70's Night", with live entertainment provided by 70s tribute band "The Shagadelics". Also included in tonight's promotions are over $4,000 worth of giveaways. Giveaways include; Televisions, Gaming Systems, Gift Cards, and 2020-2021 Season Tickets. "Storm Buster" savings in the Storm Store include 50% off old stock, and discounts on select items during each period of the game. Tri-City (8-8-2-1) plays its final home game of November tonight after splitting back to back games against Team USA last weekend at the Viaero Center. Goal scorers for Tri-City last weekend included; Cole McWard, Nick Portz, Davis Burnside, and Benji Eckerle. In Friday's 4-2 win, goaltender Joe Sharib recorded his 1st Career USHL win in net for the Storm. Through its first nineteen games of the regular season, Tri-City sits in 4th place in the tightly crowded Western Conference standings. Dependent on league results, and its games this week against Omaha and Lincoln, the Storm could rise as high as 2nd or fall as low as 7th in the conference standings by weeks' end. For the first time in over a month, Tri-City enters a week in which it will play three games against Western Conference competition. Following tonight's home game against Omaha, the Storm will travel to Lincoln, NE to face the Lincoln Stars for the first time this season in back to back games on Saturday night and Sunday afternoon.

Omaha (7-7-3-0) travels to Kearney tonight following last weekend's home sweep over the Muskegon Lumberjacks. Entering tonight's matchup at the Viaero Center, the Omaha has dropped six of its last seven road games. The Lancers are 1-2-0-0 against the Storm this season, most recently dropping back to back games against Tri-City at Ralston Arena on October 25th & October 26th. Though the team is currently in 7th place in the Western Conference standings, Omaha has gained momentum with a three-game point streak dating back to a 4-3 overtime loss at Waterloo on November 16th. Following tonight's game at the Viaero Center, the Lancers return home to Ralston Arena for five consecutive home games. In total, Omaha plays six of its last seven games prior to the Christmas break at home. Omaha enters tonight's game with the league's 6th best power play (17.2%), and the league's lowest ranked penalty kill (75.7%). Tonight's game is the 4th game in the 9 game season series between the Lancers and the Storm.
