Preview: Storm Travel to Sioux City for Matchup against Musketeers

Sioux City, IA. - The Tri-City Storm travel to the Tyson Events Center in Sioux City, Iowa tonight for a matchup against the Sioux City Musketeers. Last weekend at the Viaero Center, Tri-City won back to back games over the Fargo Force and Omaha Lancers. Tonight's game is the beginning of a four-game road stretch for the Storm. Tri-City returns home again on Friday, February 21st for a game against Omaha. Puck drops tonight at 7:05pm.

Tri-City (19-14-3-2) enters its lone game of the weekend as the 2nd place team in the USHL's Western Conference standings. The Storm currently holds a three points lead over 3rd place Fargo. In its two wins at the Viaero Center last weekend, Tri-City got goals from Chase McLane, Matthew Knies, Joey Cipollone, Benji Eckerle, Carter Mazur, Colby Ambrosio, Nick Portz, and Jack Lagerstrom. Lagerstrom's goal was the 1st of his USHL Career. USHL Defenseman of the Week Mitchell Miller provided the Storm offense with four assists on the weekend. Todd Scott collected two victories in net, stopping 49 of 52 shots on the weekend. In its most previous trip to the Tyson Events Center this season, Tri-City came away with a thrilling 6-5 shootout win over the Musketeers. Tri-City has won two of the previous three meetings against the Musketeers this season. Tonight's game is the final road game the team will play in the regular season against Sioux City. The final two games of the six game season series will take place at the Viaero Center on March 20th & March 21st. Although Tri-City only plays one game this weekend, the team will quickly be back in action early next week when it plays a road games against the Sioux Falls Stampede on Tuesday.

Sioux City (13-14-6-1) hosts the Storm tonight as the last placed team in the USHL's Western Conference standings. The Musketeers are 4-3-2-1 over the past ten games and were defeated 6-1 by the Omaha Lancers in their last outing on January 25th. Tonight's game is the beginning of a four-game home stretch for the Musketeers. Following tonight's game against Tri-City, Sioux City returns to action tomorrow in a home game against the Omaha Lancers. Through the first thirty-four games of the 2019-2020 regular season, scoring leaders for the Musketeers include; Sam Stange (20), AJ Hodges (11), Joel Maata (9), Sam Antenucci (9), and Robby Newton (8). Two goals in the final seven minutes, including the game tying goal with less than a second to go got Sioux City a point in its last meeting with the Storm. Ian Malcolmson scored in the shootout, but goals from Tri-City's Nick Portz and Mark Estapa gave Tri-City the win. Sioux City will look to even the season series with a win on home ice tonight over the Storm. Though Sioux City currently sits at the bottom of the Western Conference standings, the team is only four points out of a playoff spot.
