Preview: Storm Host Rival Lancers for "Miracle on Ice Night"

Kearney, NE. - The Tri-City Storm returns to action tonight at the Viaero Center following a thrilling game last night that ended in a 5-4 overtime win for the Omaha Lancers. The Storm seek to snap the Lancers' eight game winning streak in tonight's matchup. Tonight's game is "Miracle on Ice Night" at the Viaero Center. The Storm will wear specialty red, white, and blue sweaters in tonight's battle against rival Omaha. The game worn jerseys will be auctioned off following the game, and the Viaero Center will also host a post-game skate following the matchup. Tonight's game features two of the top three teams in the USHL's Western Conference standings. Tickets for the game can be purchased by calling 308-338-8144 or by visiting www.StormHockey.com. Puck drop is set for 7:05pm.

Tri-City (22-15-4-2) scored two goals in the final two minutes of last night's game to force overtime after trailing by three goals during the 2nd period. Carter Mazur scored his 4th goal of the year in the 2nd period, Matthew Knies scored his 12th goal of the year in the 2nd period, Colby Ambrosio scored his 25th goal of the season in the 3rd period, and with only eight seconds left in the 3rd period, Chase McLane scored his 4th goal of the season to force at overtime finish. Todd Scott started the game in net for the Storm but was pulled from the game after making 10 saves on 14 shots in 29:54 of game time. Ryan Ouellette recorded the loss in net for Tri-City after making 9 saves on 10 shots in the final 32:59 of the game. Despite the loss, Tri-City has won seven of its past ten games and has recorded a point in the standings in five of its last six games played. Following tonight's battle with the Omaha Lancers, the Storm will travel to Lincoln next weekend for back to back road games at The Ice Box against the Lincoln Stars.

Omaha (24-12-6-1) remained the hottest team in the USHL after surviving a wild finish in last night's game to win its eighth consecutive game. Omaha has a league best record of 9-1-0-0 over the past ten games. Jack Randl, Michael Cameron, Grant Anderson, Logan Will, and Luke Mobley all netted goals in last night's road win over Tri-City. Kyle McClellan stopped 33 of the Storm's 37 shots on net to record the win in goal. The Lancers finished last night's game 2 for 3 on the power play and 0 for 2 on the penalty kill. Omaha improved to 11-3-1-0 when leading after the 1st period and 17-1-0-0 when leading after 2nd period. The Lancers are now within striking distance of the top spot in the USHL's Western Conference standings. Omaha enters tonight's game only five points back of the conference-leading Waterloo Black Hawks. Following tonight's matchup against the Storm, the Lancers return home tomorrow afternoon for another rivalry game against the Lincoln Stars.
