
Preview: Rockets Hit The Road

The Kelowna Rockets will hit the road for a pair of games this weekend when they visit the Vancouver Giants at 7:00 pm on Friday and the Tri-City Americans at 6:05 on Saturday.
The Prince George Cougars swiped away a shootout victory to lock up the BC Division title for the 2023-24 season last Saturday night at Prospera Place. The Rockets hung around with the high-flying Prince George Cougars in a game that saw ten goals scored between the two. Tied at five through regulation and overtime, the game headed to a shootout where Ondrej Becher scored the lone goal in the skills competition.
The Giants, just like the Rockets did not have a mid-week game this week. After falling 4-1 to Kelowna last Friday, the Giants bounced back with a commanding 7-1 win over the Blazers in Langley on Saturday.
Tri-City also did not have a mid-week game. They were last in action last Saturday where they bounced back from a 9-4 loss to Moose Jaw the night before with a 5-3 victory over Regina. The Americans will host the Victoria Royals on Friday before Kelowna rolls in on Saturday.
The Rockets won't have to wait long to face the Americans again following this weekend, the two will tangle again at Prospera Place on Wednesday, March 6. It will also be a Fan First Menu night with $2 hot dogs and $5 Lucky Lager. The Fan First Menu is available at all Monday to Wednesday regular season games.

Hiroki Gojsic will enter Friday riding a four-game point streak that has seen him record seven points (2G, 5A) over that span. In Saturday's loss to Prince George, the winger recorded two goals and an assist.

VANCOUVER
The Rockets came back to down the Vancouver Giants 4-1 at Prospera Place on February 23 at Prospera Place. After falling behind 1-0 late in the third period, the Rockets held the Giants to zero shots on net in the second period. Andrew Cristall was named the game's first star after he burst out of the gate with three consecutive goals in the second period to collect his third hat-trick of the season. Goaltender Jari Kykkanen stopped 19 of 20 shots fired his way to pick up his 21st win of the season.
TRI-CITY
Tij Iginla's last-second heroics lifted the Kelowna Rockets to victory over the Tri-City Americans on February 19 at Prospera Place. Tied at two, Iginla took off on a breakaway to net the game-winner with 14 seconds remaining on the clock. Rockets goaltender Jari Kykkanen stopped 34 of 36 shots fired his way to pick up his 20th win of the season.
