Rising Match Preview, presented by Northern Arizona University

Phoenix Rising roared back in epic fashion last weekend, scoring two stoppage-time goals to pull level with San Diego Loyal SC just before the final whistle at Wild Horse Pass. The match was played in front of a club-record crowd of 8,058 fans, eclipsing the previous record of 7,707 from October 2018.

Santi Moar extended his goal-scoring streak to six matches, one off the club record of teammate Solomon Asante from 2019.

In his first start of the season, Joey Calistri came through big, scoring the equalizing goal in the game's final seconds. Arturo Rodriguez, who came off the bench to play the final 19 minutes, flashed his potential and was credited with assists on both goals.

Rising now looks to build on last weekend's late-game momentum and get back into the win column against Tacoma Defiance.

"Tacoma is a very good team - very young and very dynamic," said head coach Rick Schantz. "What I've watched of Tacoma, they have some really good attacking players.

They're going to really challenge us. We have to use our experience, our size and power, and we have to dominate them physically. I expect it will be similar when Vegas was here. They're very young. We have to intimidate them. We have to make them feel uncomfortable when they come to Phoenix. Having a big crowd, it being over 100 degrees... We need to start fast and we'll be okay."
