Matchup Notes

Tonight marks the second of four meetings between the Oil Kings and Wheat Kings this season.

Brandon won the opening game of the season series last Friday by a 5-2 score at Westoba Place.

All-time, the Oil King and Wheaties have met 61 times in the regular season with the Oil Kings holding a record of 32-27-1-1.

Coming In

The Oil Kings come in off 7-3 loss to the Moose Jaw Warriors on Saturday night at the Moose Jaw Events Centre.

In the loss, the Oil Kings got goals from Gavin Hodnett, his second in as many games, Blake Fiddler and a power play goal from Marc Lajoie giving Edmonton a power play goal in eight of their last nine games. The penalty kill wasn't overly taxed only needing to kill off one Moose Jaw power play, but the Oil Kings PK unit has now killed off nine of it's last 10 times shorthanded.

While the Oil Kings couldn't take two points out of the Moose Jaw Events Centre, they didn't come home empty handed as following the game the team acquired 2004-born defenceman Matthew Gallant from the Warriors in exchange for a third-round pick, he is expected to make his Oil Kings debut tonight wearing #8.

The Wheat Kings are coming in off a 3-2 loss to the Medicine Hat Tigers on Saturday on home ice and now sit at 9-9-4-1 on the season. Nate Danielson and Jayden Wiens each found the back of the net for the Wheaties giving both players goals in back-to-back games.
