Swift Current Broncos News Release
RED DEER, AB - The Swift Current Broncos (6-21-1-2) are hoping to head home for the holidays on a high note when they take on the Red Deer Rebels (11-17-0-3) Saturday night.
Friday the Broncos were in Edmonton for the second straight game, starting off strong but dropping a 5-1 game to the Oil Kings. The opening 20 minutes saw end to end action with both teams have multiple scoring opportunities. The shots ended 16-12 for Edmonton.
The second period was a different story as the Oil Kings ramped up the pressure and the Broncos had a tough time adjusting. Edmonton scored three times, including once on the power play, to take a 3-0 lead into the intermission.
Hendrik De Klerk cut into Edmonton's lead early in the third, but that was all the offence the Broncos would get as the Oil Kings scored another power-play goal and added a goal with 11 seconds left for the 5-1 final.
The Rebels were also in action last night, holding on in the third period for a 6-4 win. The Bebels led 5-0 through 40 minutes before the Tigers came storming back to make it a one-goal game.
Saturday will be the third meeting of the season between the Broncos and Rebels, with both teams having won once.
