
Power Winds Down Month Of May With Four-Game Homestand

CHARLESTON, WV - The West Virginia Power are headed back to Appalachian Power Park for their final May homestand, where they will play the Kannapolis Intimidators in a four-game set from May 25-28. This series will be the first time the two teams play in 2018 and the only time the Power will see Kannapolis at home. The clubs will play four more times in Kannapolis from July 23-26.
SCHEDULE:
Friday, May 25: Power vs. Kannapolis Intimidators - 7:05 p.m.
Saturday, May 26: Power vs. Kannapolis Intimidators - 6:05 p.m.
Sunday, May 27: Power vs. Kannapolis Intimidators - 2:05 p.m.
Monday, May 28: Power vs. Kannapolis Intimdators - 2:05 p.m.
ABOUT THE INTIMIDATORS: Kannapolis is 29-15 heading into the series against the Power and they boast the league's highest team batting average at .283, with the next closest team, Asheville, trailing at .265. The bats have been paced by Laz Rivera and Luis Gonzalez this season. Rivera boasts the highest average in the SAL at .364 to go along with six homers and 20 RBI. Meanwhile, Gonzalez has been setting the table well, hitting at a .329 clip and reaching base safely over 38 percent of the time. The Intimidators are also led by one of the league's top pitchers, Blake Battenfield, who is 4-1 and sports a 1.77 ERA through 45.2 innings this season. Kannapolis is led by second-year manager Justin Jirschele in 2018.
FIREWORKS FRIDAY: Come out to Appalachian Power Park on Friday night for the series opener between West Virginia and Kannapolis and stick around after the final out to see the best pyrotechnics display the Kanawha Valley has to offer, presented by Electric 102.7. First pitch is at 7:05 p.m, and gates will open at 6 p.m.
LEGENDS OF WRESTLING NIGHT: Jim Ross will be in attendance as the Power grapple with the Kannapolis Intimidators in game two of a four-game set. When you head to the ballpark, you will experience all the sites and sounds of a heavyweight bout, presented by Mix 100.9 and The Jock 1300 and 1340 AM. Jim will throw out the first pitch on Saturday, as well as sign autographs for fans on the concourse for a limited time. There will also be a sports duffle bag giveaway available to the first 1,000 fans after gates open at 5 p.m. First pitch is set for 6:05 p.m.
KIDZ SUNDAY FUNDAY: Kids 12 and younger can play catch in the outfield prior to the game and run the bases after the final out, sponsored by SMART529 College Savings Program. Also, kids 12 and under get in free with their Kidz Club membership, presented by Sheetz. First pitch is scheduled for 2:05 p.m., and gates will open at 1 p.m.
SUNSCREEN GIVEAWAY: As part of MiLB's Cover Your Bases Sun Safety Initiative, the first 500 fans in attendance on Sunday and Monday will receive a sample of Blue Lizard Australian sunscreen.
FAMILY BUCK DAY: Get $3.00 box seats or $1.00 general admission tickets for Monday's 2:05 p.m. Memorial Day clash with the Intimidators, with $1.00 hot dogs, popcorn and 12-ounce Pepsi products also available at the concession stands. Gates will open at 1 p.m.
