THE LEAD OFF: West Virginia and Delmarva split a twinbill for the second straight day. The Power captured game one 3-1. With the score tied at one after six innings, West Virginia plated two in the top of the seventh without a base hit. Clay Holmes went five innings, allowing one run on five hits, but did not factor in the decision. Ryan Hafner worked two scoreless innings of relief for the victory. In the nightcap, the Power led 2-1 after six and a half, but the Shorebirds tied the game in the bottom of the seventh and won it with a walk-off home run by Nik Balog of reliever Tom Harlan. It was the second doubleheader split in as many days and the second time that Delmarva won in walk-off fashion during the series.

DOWN THE STRETCH WE GO: West Virginia enters play tonight in third place, two games behind Hickory and a game and a half back of Hagerstown. The Power wrap up the first half in Greensboro while the Crawdads close the half at home against Delmarva and the Suns host Lakewood.

IN THE HOPPERS HOUSE: West Virginia opens its' only 2013 series in Greensboro tonight. The Power lead the all-time series with 64 wins and 50 losses, though the Grasshoppers won the 2012 series 8-6 and have taken four of six this year. Since 2005, West Virginia has gone 29-26 at NewBridge Bank Park.

WALK-OFF LIFE: The Power have now lost in walk-off fashion four times this season, including twice in the last two days. Prior to game two last night, each walk-off loss had been on singles. West Virginia has won three walk-off games this season, winning twice on home runs and once on a single.

JUNE SWOON: West Virginia is 5-6 this month after going 20-10 in May. The Power hit .270 last month, tied for the second best average in the league, but are batting .237 in June, fourth worst in the league. The pitching staff, however, has posted a 3.27 ERA over the first 11 games, down from 4.73 in April over 25 games and 3.62 last month.

DOUBLEHEADER DAYS: West Virginia is 6-4 on doubleheader days this season.

ALL-STAR POWER: West Virginia had six players selected to represent the club in the 2013 South Atlantic League All-Star Game, including three starters. Stetson Allie will play first base, Josh Bell will start in right field, and Dilson Herrera was selected as the starting shortstop. Walker Gourley was chosen as a reserve outfielder, while pitchers Orlando Castro and Tyler Glasnow were also selected to represent the Power. West Virginia, Hickory, Hagerstown, and Augusta each had six players selected by the league's managers, coaches, general managers, and media.

POWER PLAY: Stetson Allie hit his 17th home run of the season in game one on Tuesday. The All-Star has matched Mat Gamel (2006) and Andrew Lefave (2007) with the fifth-best single season home run tally in Power history. 18 home runs would match Aaron Baker (2010) and Willy Garcia (2012) for third most in franchise history.

PROMO UPDATE- JULY 4- The Power will host the Lexington Legends on July 4 at 6:05 pm. The game will be followed by a fireworks show and a concert by the Davisson Brothers Band.

POWER POINTS: Tuesday's game one shutout was the sixth by the Power staff this season... West Virginia's eight-run third inning matched their best single-inning output this season (ninth inning on 4/13/13 at Asheville)... Walker Gourley went 0-3 in game one on Wednesday and saw his nine game hitting streak and 22 game on-base streak stopped. The 22-game run matched Stetson Allie for the longest by a Power player this year.

AROUND THE ORGANIZATION: Pittsburgh beat San Francisco 12-8 on Wednesday. Alex Presley and Neil Walker each hit home runs to pace the Buccos in their second straight win over the world champs... Indianapolis was idle and opens a series in Durham tonight... Altoona swept a doubleheader in New Britain, winning 7-1 and 3-1... Bradenton lost 3-2 to Lakeland in seven innings.
