Lexington, KY (April 28, 2007) - The Lexington Legends hit four homeruns on Saturday night and handed the West Virginia Power their first loss in 18 days, snapping their 14 game winning streak with a 9-1 victory at Applebee's Park.
Lexington took a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning on back to back homeruns from Jordan Parraz and Chris Johnson. Johnson's homerun was a solo blast and he hit another one in the bottom of the third inning to put the Legends up 4-1. Kenny Holmberg hit his fourth homerun of the year, a solo blast in the second inning which was West Virginia's only run of the game. Jimmy Van Ostrand hit Lexington's fourth homer of the game, a two run shot in the fifth inning. The Legends scored three times in the eighth inning after Nick Moresi ripped a two run triple and later scored on Greg Buchanan's groundout.
Dave Qualben (2-1) held the Power in check, allowing just a run on five hits over six innings to get the win, Sergio Severino pitched three scoreless innings to get the save while Brae Wright (1-1) allowed six runs on eleven hits over five and was tagged with the loss.
The loss was the first for West Virginia since April 10th at Appalachian Power Park against the Lakewood BlueClaws and it was West Virginia's first road loss of the season.
