Rome, GA - The Rome Braves posted another victory again tonight against the Savannah Sand Gnats 5-3 at State Mutual Stadium in front of 4,140 fans.
The Sand Gnats got on the board in the top of the second inning with two unearned runs on an error by right fielder Jon Mark Owings giving them an early 2-0 lead.
The Braves bounced back with an unearned run of their own in the fifth as Josh Morris reached on an error by Juan Lagares and later scored on a groundout by Concepcion Rodriguez making the score 2-1. Rome took the lead in the seventh with four runs highlighted by an RBI single by Chad Fontaine and a three run double by Danny Brezeale giving Rome a 5-2 advantage. Savannah added a run in the eighth but Braves pitching shut them down the rest of the way to secure the win.
Michael Broadway gets the win in relief (1-0) going three innings, four hits, one unearned run while striking out four. Todd Privett is the loser (0-3) in a one-inning relief appearance. Rome pitching struck out 12 hitters in the game.
The Braves play the Savannah Sand Gnats again tomorrow afternoon for the final game of the series at State Mutual Stadium with the first pitch at 2 o'clock.
