
Power shock Iâ??s early, use HR to seal deal

KANNAPOLIS, N.C. (July 2, 2015)- Thad Lowry worked 7.0 innings, but the Intimidators couldn't erase an early deficit, falling to the West Virginia Power, 5-1, Thursday night at Intimidators Stadium supported by Carolinas HealthCare System.
Lowry took the loss (8-4), allowing three runs (two earned), walking two and striking out two. It was Lowry's first loss to the power in his career (2-1)
Stephen Tarpley earned his fourth win of the season (4-2), pitching 7.0 innings, allowing one run on three hits while walking two and fanning five.
In the second, the Power took a 1-0 lead when Jerrick Suiter doubled and scored on a
Elvis Escobar single.
West Virginia added another run in the fourth inning, making it 2-0. A bunt single by Cole Tucker and a throwing error by Lowry put runners on first and third to start the inning. Two-batters later Tucker scored on a sacrifice fly.
The Power plated its third run in as many innings in the fifth, taking a 3-0 lead. After a double and a fielder's choice advance Suiter to third. Taylor Gushue singled on a groundball to left field, scoring Suiter.
The Intimidators scored their only run in the sixth inning, cutting the Power lead to 3-1. After Eddy Alvarez singled and stole second and third, Louie Lechich knocked in Alvarez on an infield single.
The Power put the game away 5-1 when Suchy lined a two-run home run over the left-field fence in the eighth.
Matt Cooper worked the final two innings, allowing two runs, on two hits, while walking two and striking out three.
The Intimidators and Power continue their 4-game series Friday at Intimidators Stadium supported by Carolinas HealthCare System. Right-handed pitcher Luis Martinez (2-7, 6.52) takes the ball versus Power righty Alex McRae (4-4, 4.06). Fridays game will feature post-game fireworks presented by The City of Kannapolis.
