Evansville Otters News Release

Denver Stuckey and Josh Stewart hit their first homeruns of the season and the Evansville Otters scored five times in the seventh inning leading them to an 8-4 win over the Washington Wild Things.

Stuckey gave the Otters a 1-0 lead in the top of the first with his first homerun since August 18th of last season. Washington tied it in the first on a Chris Carter double. The Wild Things went up 3-1 on a Lance Koenig homerun in the fifth.

The Otters finally got to the Wild Things in the seventh. Josh Stewart hit the first pitch of the inning over the left field fence for his first professional homer. The Otters then put together a rally highlighted by a Trask Munoz, bases loaded single to go up 6-3.

Washington scored an unearned run in the bottom of the inning to make it 6-4, but Jeff Goldbach made sure that the Otters would not let the game slip away, smacking his 17th longball of the season to give Evansville an 8-4 lead in the ninth.

Andre Simpson (6-5) picked up the win striking out eight in the game. His first of the night, a swinging strikeout of Koenig was his 121st of the season, which passed Jeremy Lewis for the single season team mark. Lewis struck out 120 last season. The series finale is tomorrow night with Chris Pillsbury (7-7) going for the Otters against Brendon Davis (8-1) for the Wild Things. Game time is set for 6:05 p.m. CST and can be heard on 91.5, WUEV
