LAST NIGHT: West Virginia allowed two first inning runs but came back to beat Lakewood 3-2. Both BlueClaws runs scored within the first three batters of the game on a hit better, a triple, and a sacrifice fly. The Power got one run back on a second inning single by Elevys Gonzalez, and subsequently took its first home lead of the year against the BlueClaws in the third on a double by Aaron Baker that brought home a pair. Jason Erickson garnered his team-best seventh win with six quality innings, while Zach Foster picked up his fifth save.

MAC ATTACK: Kyle McPherson will make his team-high 21st start of the season when he faces Lakewood today. The right-hander is 0-1 with a 9.82 ERA against the BlueClaws this season in two appearances. Lakewood forced McPherson into his shortest outing of the season on June 10 by scoring five runs on three hits in an inning and two-thirds. McPherson's lone relief outing of the year came in late July in Lakewood once he was activated from the disabled list with a blister problem on his right hand, forcing him to miss one start.

WALK THIS WAY: Evan Chambers walked twice last night to bring his league leading total to 86. Chambers is in third place across all of Minor League Baseball, trailing only Conner Crumbliss of Kane County (92) and Kila Ki'aihue of Omaha (92).

BROOMS NEEDED: West Virginia completed its first series sweep of the season by capturing both games of Thursday's doubleheader. The Power had not swept a four game series since last August at Lexington, part of a ten game winning streak. The last four-game sweep at home was during May of the 2009 season when West Virginia beat Delmarva in four straight, including both halves of a doubleheader.

A SEASON FIRST: Power batters completed their first game of the season without any strikeouts on this past Tuesday. West Virginia hitters went 15 for 36, walked 5 times, hit three sacrifice flies, and stole three bases in three chances. 10 of the remaining 21 outs were ground balls, while 10 came on fly balls. The first out of the seventh inning was recorded when a Power player tried to advance from first to third on a base hit but was gunned down.

JUST UNDER IN JULY: The Power finished July with a 14-15 record, roughly in the middle of the SAL pack for the month. Charleston and Lakewood held the league's best record at 18-12, while Hagerstown had the lowest winning percentage with a 10-18 mark. West Virginia hit .259 during the month, their best average in any month this season and their 23 home runs were second only to their June totals. The Power staff ERA was 4.67; slightly more than on run higher than May's season best 3.65 earned run average, but still slightly over a full run less than June's 5.65 ERA.

POWER POINTS: West Virginia hitters rank fourth in the SAL in walks, having combined for 366 this season, ten behind league leaders Lexington and Greenville... Jose Hernandez went hitless on Saturday and saw his five-game hitting streak snapped...

AROUND THE ORGANIZATION: Pittsburgh walked off with an 8-7 win in ten innings against Colorado. Pedro Alvarez hit a three run homer to win it... Indianapolis lost 6-4 at Durham... Altoona scored ten in the ninth en route to beating Harrisburg 18-6... Bradenton lost 5-4 to Brevard County... State College beat Staten Island 2-1.

ON THE AIR: All 140 West Virginia Power games can be heard on ESPN Radio 1490 AM in Charleston, WV, across the state on the Power Radio Network, and online at milb.com. Adam Marco will call the action for each of the 70 home games this season, while the home team will provide coverage while the Power are on the road.
