TUESDAY: West Virginia lost a rain-shortened game at Hickory on Tuesday by a 7-5 final over six innings. The Power took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning on a double by Ramon Cabrera. The Crawdads took a 4-2 lead after two innings, including three on a home run by Leury Garcia. Hickory tacked on three in the fourth, but West Virginia's one run per inning rally was halted by the rain after five and half. Spot starter Jhonathan Ramos took the loss for the Power.

15 AND COUNTING: Jarek Cunningham extended his current hitting streak to 15 straight with a two hits last night. The second baseman is batting .373 during this stretch, which dates back to May 31, and has seen his average climb from .243 to .276 with 22 hits in 59 at bats. He has also hit three home runs and driven in 11 runs over his last 15 games. Cunningham's current streak is the longest active run in the league, and has matched Kyle Skipworth's 15-gamer for Greensboro as the longest in the SAL this season. Winston Salem's Brandon Short has the longest streak across all of Minor League Baseball at 26 games.

SIX STRAIGHT: The Power have fallen in six consecutive games, including a sweep at the hands of the Lakewood BlueClaws. During this six-game slide, West Virginia has been outscored 52-19, have a team batting average of .213, and hold a staff earned run average of 7.71. West Virginia was swept for the first time this season when they lost the three straight to Lakewood, and the six-game losing streak is their longest since last season when the club lost seven in a row from July 13 through July 19.

ONE YEAR AGO: During their first season as a Pirates affiliate, the Power went 27-43 during the first half of the season. The club hit .154 during the first 70 games and held a staff ERA of 4.66.

POWER ALL-STARS: West Virginia placed four players on the 2010 South Atlantic League's Northern Division All-Star team. Ramon Cabrera, Aaron Baker, David Rubinstein, and Nathan Baker were selected by the managers, staff, fans, and media to compete in the mid-season classic, to be played at Fluor Field in Greenville, South Carolina on June 22. Aaron Baker will start at designated hitter for the North, which will be managed by Hickory's Bill Richardson. Hagerstown, Hickory, and Kannapolis each placed five representatives on the squad.

POWER POINTS: Jose Hernandez's home run on Monday was the first of his professional career... West Virginia committed 11 errors during their recent series against Lakewood, representing 14% of the total Power errors all season... David Rubinstein had reached base safely by hit or walk in his last 21 consecutive road contests, dating back to April 25 at Kannapolis... Jhonathan Ramos became the 12 starting pitcher used by West Virginia this season. The Power utilized 15 different starting pitchers during the 2009 campaign.

AROUND THE ORGANIZATION: Pittsburgh lost the series opener at PNC Park against the Chicago White Sox 6-4. After the game, Pittsburgh called Pedro Alvarez up from Triple-A... Indianapolis lost at Scranton/ Wilkes-Barre 4-1... Altoona lost 9-1 at Trenton. Miles Durham drove in the lone Curve run... Bradenton knocked off St. Lucie 13-1. Calvin Anderson hit his sixth home run of the year for the Marauders in the win.
