
Heredia Activated from DL, Arcia Sent to Staten Island

CHARLESTON, SC - The New York Yankees announced Wednesday that Charleston RiverDogs right-handed pitcher Jairo Heredia has been activated from the DL, and catcher Francisco Arcia has been sent to short-season Staten Island, which begins its season in the New York-Penn League on Friday, June 18.
Heredia, a Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic native, is schedule to start tonight's contest against the Augusta GreenJackets to close out the home portion of the first-half of the season for Charleston.
The 20-year-old hurler has made five starts for the RiverDogs this season since joining the club on May 12. The right-hander has given up 34 hits and 16 earned-runs, striking out 23 batters while posting a 2-1 record with a 5.08 ERA in 28.1 innings on the mound. Heredia was rated as the No. 29 prospect in the Yankees organization prior to the 2010 season by Baseball America.
Arcia appeared in 17 games for the RiverDogs this season, 16 at catcher and one as designated hitter. The Maquetia, Venezuela native batted .314, with four doubles, three RBI, seven walks and one stolen base. The 20-year-old prospect hit safely in his last five games for the club.
