West Virginia sent 10 batters to the plate in a six-run fourth inning rally to highlight a 12-2 victory for the Power over the Charleston RiverDogs in South Atlantic League action Friday night in front of 4,437 fans at wet Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park.

The ten-run loss was the worst of the season for the RiverDogs, who have now dropped nine of their last 14 games at Riley Park. It was the seventh consecutive win for West Virginia and the 13th in the Power's last 14 games played.

With the victory, the Northern Division-leading Power improve to 17-5 in the season's second half and 48-42 overall. The RiverDogs slip to 8-12 since the All-Star break and 53-37 on the season.

In West Virginia's big fourth inning, Steffan Wilson opened with a triple to center and scored when Curt Rindal reached on a fielding error by shortstop Carmen Angelini to extend the Power's lead to 2-0.

West Virginia continued to pound Charleston starter Jairo Heredia (4-3) in the six-run fourth with an RBI single by Eric Farris, an RBI groundout by Caleb Gindl and a two-run bloop single by Zelous Wheeler. Adding insult to injury, Anderson de la Rosa scored on a throwing error by Charleston right fielder Austin Krum.

In the fifth, Charleston put a run on the board when Carmen Angelini reached first on an error, then advanced after back-to-back singles by Dave Williams and Krum. Angelini scored on a wild pitch from Power starting pitcher Amaury Rivas (7-3).

West Virginia added two more runs in the sixth on a two-out, two-run RBI double to left by Wilson against Jesse Hoover.

Charleston added a run in the seventh inning on Brandon Laird's solo home run to left field, his team-tying ninth of the season, that came on a 1-0 offering from Rivas to make the score 9-2.

West Virginia extended its lead to 12-2 in the top of the ninth, pushing three two-out runs across the plate off of reliever Gabe Medina. Lee Haydel singled home a run before Farris belted his first home run of the season, a two-run shot over the left field fence.

The Power started the scoring with a single run in the first inning on Wheeler's RBI double.

All but one of the Power's starting position players secured at least one hit and all nine scored at least one run. Seven of the team's 13 hits went for extra bases. Eight of the 12 runs scored with two outs in an inning.

Leading West Virginia's 13-hit attack with two each were Haydel, Farris, Fryer, Wheeler and Wilson. Both Farris and Wheeler drove home three runs apiece.

Rivas, in going seven complete frames for the win, allowed two runs (one earned) on seven hits, fanned two and walked none.
