Delmarva Shorebirds News Release

Salisbury, Md.- The Shorebirds scored four times in the fourth, capitalizing on five Augusta errors in the inning, to knock off the GreenJackets 5-2 for their third straight victory on Friday night at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium. Zach Britton tossed six innings, allowing just one earned run (two total) and picked up his eighth win on the season.

Delmarva trailed 2-0 heading to the last of the fourth when the bats awakened. With one out, Joe Nowicki doubled to begin the rally. The next three Shorebirds all singled and, thanks to some troubling fielding from left fielder Garrett Baker, all came around to score. Baker, who had made two errors this season entering the game, was charged with four errors in the inning. In addition, shortstop Charlie Culberson booted Pedro Florimon's grounder with two outs for the fifth miscue of the inning.

Matt Tucker continued his hot hitting by finishing the game 3-4, including a solo home run in the eighth that provided some insurance for the Birds. Wally Crancer also had a pair of singles for Delmarva. Brett Bordes and Brian Parker combined to pitch two scoreless innings, paving the way for Mick Mattaliano's entrance in the ninth. The Shorebird closer picked up his 20th save of the season by retiring the GreenJackets in order in the final frame to secure the Shorebirds 50th victory of the season.

With seven wins in their last nine games, the Shorebirds hope to continue their winning ways on Saturday night at 7:05. Delmarva is 10-4 on Saturdays this season.
