USHL Sioux City Musketeers

Pospisil Signs Entry Level Deal with the Calgary Flames

April 22, 2019 - United States Hockey League (USHL)
Sioux City Musketeers News Release

Just days after a heartbreaking end to his second full USHL season Martin Pospisil signed a 3-year entry-level contract with the Calgary Flames.

Pospisil was drafted in the 4th round with the 105th overall pick in last year's NHL Entry Draft.

The Zvolen native enjoyed his best statistical season centering USHL standouts Bobby Brink and Marcus Kallionkieli. Pospisil scored 16 goals while notching 47 assists for 63 points in 44 games putting him right behind is linemate Bobby Brink at 1.43 Pt/G.

Head Coach Luke Strand, who was once in the Flames coaching system, said he is excited for the opportunity Martin has to show who he truly is on and off the ice, "Martin is a book. Way more than the cover. He's a tremendous young man that makes a difference on and off the ice. He'll be a great asset to the Calgary Flames with a high ceiling. Huge congrats to him!"

Pospisil will now enjoy a little time off before starting to prepare for flames camp in September where he will found out where he will spend 2019. His older brother Krisitan Pospisil made the Toronto Marlies roster after a very strong Maples Leafs rookie camp after being undrafted in 2017. He played two games with the Marlies and spent the rest of the year playing with the Orlando Solar Bears of the ECHL. Time will tell if the younger Pospisil will get a more significant crack at the AHL level, but after his impressive USHL season don't be surprised to see Pospisil in a C of Red before long.
