Portland Winterhawks News Release
Hawks Happenings On The Ice:
Chris Francis's hat trick Saturday night against Seattle (the final tally tying the game with a second left in the third period) was the first of his WHL career, and the second by a Winterhawk this season after Luke Walker accomplished the feat on September 25 in Tri-Cities. Francis leads the team with 26 points, and his 17 assists has him tied for eighth in the league.
With 29 saves against Seattle Sunday, Kurtis Mucha is now just 21 stops away from 6,000 for his career. He leads the Winterhawks in career saves, and is currently seventh among all-time WHL leaders, 979 saves behind career leader Danny Lorenz. Mucha is also tied for seventh in WHL history for games played by a goalie (211), and is ninth in minutes played by a goaltender (11,845).
Hawks Happenings Off The Ice:
On Wednesday morning Winterhawks players will be at the Portland Police Sunshine Division preparing food boxes from 10 - 11:00 a.m., and media are invited to attend. The Winterhawks won't just be hosting the Rockets and Bruins this weekend, they'll also be hosting the players' parents. Most of the Winterhawks players' families will be in Portland this weekend for the team's annual parents' weekend. Families will start arriving in the middle of the week, and media who wish to interview players and their families should contact Graham Kendrick to make arrangements.
