
Portland Puts up 11 on Winning Wednesday

The Portland Winterhawks matched their season high in goals and largest margin of victory this year by beating the Tri-City Americans 11-2 on Wednesday night to take over the top spot in the U.S. Division with 93 points.
Portland scored three times in the first and second periods and five times in the third frame, including scoring the last six goals of the night. In total, 14 different Winterhawks registered a point (pending stat adjustments) in the win. Jack O'Brien was named the first star of the night and WHL's second star of the night after recording his first career WHL hat trick.
Next up, the Winterhawks welcome the Victoria Royals to town on Saturday and Sunday evening. Those two games will be the final out-of-division games for the Hawks this regular season.
NOTABLES:
Eight different players scored tonight for the Hawks. Jack O'Brien and Tyson Kozak were the only repeat scorers in the lopsided affair.
Gabe Klassen finished with three assists for his second three-point night this year.
Seth Jarvis and Jaydon Dureau each recorded a goal and two assists in the win. Jarvis was a +7 skater giving him a rating of +50 which is second among WHLers.
Cross Hanas became the third Winterhawk to reach 20+ goals this season.
Jake Gricius extended his point streak to three straight games.
Portland leads the WHL in goals with 261 goals.
