Spokane Chiefs News Release
Sawyer Mick's goal with 4:19 remaining broke a 1-1 tie and gave the Portland Winter Hawks a one goal win over the Spokane Chiefs in the Arena on Saturday night. The Winter Hawks evened the season series at two games a piece and the two will face each other on January 14th and 16th in a home-and-home series beginning in the Spokane Arena.
The Chiefs outshot Portland 14-4 in the first period but it was scoreless through 20-minutes. The Winter Hawks scored at 3:50 of the second to take a 1-0 lead. The Chiefs Kenton Miller scored his second goal in three games, his first at home, to even the score with 56-seconds left in the period.
Each team had 11 shots in the third, but Mick was the only one to find the back of the net. Spokane pulled James Reid with a minute remaining and had a number of looks on the net but was thwarted by Ian Curtis in the Portland goal.
