Portland Shuts Out Everett 4-0

Kurtis Mucha stopped 38 shots and Taylor Peters scored two goals to lead the Portland Winter Hawks to a 4-0 victory over the Everett Silvertips at the Memorial Coliseum.

The shutout was the sixth of the WHL career of Mucha who also made his 5,000th save of his career in the first period, finishing with 5,027 saves in his career.

After a scoreless first period, Portland got a five minute major power play and got two goals, one from Taylor Peters and the other from Chris Francis. Peters would add an even-strength goal later in the period for a 3-0 lead after two periods.

Luke Walker scored a goal early in the third period to provide the final margin. Brett Ponich chipped in two assists for the Hawks.

Shayne Barrie went the distance in net for Everett, stopping 34 of 38 shots in the loss.

On special teams, Portland went 2 for 2 on the power play while Everett went 0 for 3.

Next up, the Hawks hit the road for a Saturday game against the Spokane Chiefs at 7:05.
