
Portland defeats Kelowna

The Portland Winterhawks defeated the Kelowna Rockets 5-1 on Saturday night in Kelowna, completing a sweep of a two game weekend set between the top two teams in the WHL Western Conference.
Nic Petan scored three times for the Winterhawks while Ty Rattie and Brendan Leipsic also scored for the Hawks, who also earned a 5-3 win over Kelowna on Friday.
Colton Sissons had the lone Rockets marker, the 22nd of the season for the Rockets captain.
The Rockets have now dropped three straight games but still sit in first in the WHL BC Division with a 40-13-3-1 record while Portland improved to 45-8-1-2 on the season, first overall in the WHL.
The Rockets won't have time to stew on the weekend losses to Portland as the team will travel overnight to Everertt for a Sunday afternoon (5 p.m.) tilt against the Silvertips.
Kelowna will return to Prospera Place on Thursday Feb. 14 to meet the Silvertips before a home and home set next weekend against rival Kamloops as the two teams will play in Kamloops next Friday and in Kelowna next Saturday.
