Aaron Poreda struck out 11 Jacksonville Suns' batters during seven shutout innings to earn his first win of the season Thursday night, a 4-1 victory for the Barons in front of 7,780 fans at Regions Park.

Poreda (1-2, 1.69 ERA) allowed just six base runners on the night, and got into trouble only once. He gave up consecutive hits to the Suns to start the seventh inning, and then walked Lorenzo Scott with two outs to load the bases. But the big left-hander reached back to strike out Ryan Kloserman and end the threat.

The Barons hitters staked Poreda to an early lead when Brandon Allen went gone-zo with a three-run blast that hit the scoreboard in the first inning. The offense collected only three more hits the rest of the evening, but Poreda made the lead stick.

The win officially gives the Barons their second-consecutive series win at Regions Park. The teams will play the final game of the five-game set Friday night at 7:05 PM. Lucas Harrell (1-0, 4.00) will take the ball for the Barons opposite Cristhian Martinez (2-0, 0.00).
