MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Another solid outing from Bryan Augenstein and 12 hits at the dish paced the BayBears to a 6-1 drubbing of the Montgomery Biscuits on Thursday night at Riverwalk Stadium.

Augenstein (3-0) saw his scoreless streak end at 17.1 innings after an RBI groundout in the sixth brought Matt Spring to the plate, but otherwise, it was Augenstein once again dominating as he cruised through seven innings.

Offensive help boosted the BayBears (11-3) early as Mark Hallberg and Gerardo Parra each singled with one out in the first setting the table for Ricardo Sosa who doubled to left-center, bringing both men to the plate. Sosa nearly scored himself on a double by Bryan Byrne but was thrown out at home.

Augenstein made a 2-0 lead hold up until the sixth when the BayBears lit up reliever Brandon Mann who replaced Ryan Morse (0-3) after just four innings. Mann's turmoil began when Cyle Hankerd was hit by a pitch which preceded an error by third baseman Cesar Suarez allowing Yunesky Sanchez to reach.

The BayBears wasted no time capitalizing as Orlando Mercado doubled home Hankerd and Sanchez to make it 4-0. Mercado crossed the plate after a two-bagger by Pedro Ciriaco who was knocked in by a Chris Rahl RBI single. Kyler Newby tossed two scoreless innings in relief of Augenstein while fanning four.

Cody Evans (2-0, 3.86) takes the bump for the BayBears on Friday night as they try to grab four of five from the Biscuits at Riverwalk Stadium. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. The BayBears return to Hank Aaron Stadium on Saturday night for a 7:05 p.m. start against the Birmingham Barons.
