Popovic A Marked Man For Atlanta

The Atlanta Thrashers have recalled defenseman MARK POPOVIC from the Chicago Wolves.

POPOVIC, who has not appeared with Atlanta this season, has collected two goals, four points, 12 penalty minutes and a +2 plus/minus rating in eight games with the Wolves this season.

Last year, the 24-year-old blueliner was tied for eighth among American Hockey League defensemen with a career-high 12 goals in 73 games with the Wolves after entering the season with eight markers in 221 career AHL tilts.

The Stoney Creek, Ontario, native placed second among team defenseman and seventh on the squad with a career-best 26 assists and second among club blueliners and 10th in the AHL with a career-most 38 points.

POPOVIC also shared fourth on the Wolves and 11th among league defensemen with seven power-play tallies. He was held scoreless in six games over four stints with the Thrashers.
