
Ponies Beat Harrisburg in Back-And-Forth Affair on Wednesday

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - The Binghamton Rumble Ponies (28-23, 63-57) defeated the Harrisburg Senators, 4-2, in a back-and-forth affair on Wednesday night at Mirabito Stadium. The Ponies have won four-straight games and nine of their last 11 games.
With the Ponies and Senators tied 2-2 in the bottom of the eighth, Rowdey Jordan led off the frame with a single. Agustin Ruiz and Hayden Senger followed with walks to load up the bases with no outs. Rhylan Thomas worked a nine-pitch walk and drove in Jordan to bring home the go-ahead run, which gave Binghamton a 3-2 lead. Luisangel Acuña followed with a sacrifice fly that made it 4-2.
Harrisburg (24-29, 55-66) scored first in the top of the third inning against Luis Moreno. Robert Hassell III hit an RBI double to make it 1-0.
Binghamton grabbed the lead in the fifth inning. Thomas worked a leadoff walk, Acuña followed with a walk and later in the inning JT Schwartz hit a go-ahead two-run single that gave the Ponies a 2-1 lead.
Moreno dazzled in his start, striking out nine batters and only issuing one walk over 5.2 innings of two-run ball. In the sixth, Frankie Tostado hit a game-tying RBI single that ended Moreno's night on the 100th pitch of his outing.
The Ponies rallied back in the eighth inning and the bullpen shut down Harrisburg. Paul Gervase struck out all four batters that he faced in 1.1 innings of work and Daison Acosta (4-3) finished the game with two scoreless frames, earning the win.
The Rumble Ponies continue their series with the Senators at Mirabito Stadium on Thursday night. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m. and pregame coverage will begin at 6:20 p.m. on the WNBF Rumble Ponies Radio Network.
Postgame Notes: Kevin Parada recorded the first hit of his Double-A career and reached base twice...Thomas reached base four times with a single and three walks...Schwartz recorded his 16th multi-hit game and 13th multi-RBI game of the season...Schwartz extended his on-base streak to 14 games and his hitting streak to five games...Jeremiah Jackson extended his on-base streak to 13 games with a single and has reached base in 22 of his first 23 games with Binghamton...Ruiz extended his on-base streak to 10 games and his hitting streak to five games.
