Pomeranz Named to XM Futures Game

Kinston starting pitcher Drew Pomeranz will represent the K-Tribe in the 2011 XM Satellite Radio Futures Game. Cleveland's 2010 first round selection is one of ten pitchers selected to the United State's team roster.

After being taken out of the University of Mississippi, Pomeranz is making his first professional season a memorable one. Pomeranz has already collected a Carolina League Pitcher of the Week award and received an All-Star Game selection. His 1.93 ERA ranks first in the league and 77 strikeouts over 60 2/3 innings is third.

Rosters for the team were decided on by all 30 big league clubs, MLB, the MLB Scouting Bureau, MLB.com, Baseball America and USA Baseball. Players from all full season clubs are eligible for a selection. The 2011 contest will be played on Sunday, July 10th at Arizona's Chase Field. Coverage of the game will be carried on a number of media outlets including ESPN2 and MLB.TV.

Pomeranz is scheduled to start in Salem, VA on Saturday night. The K-Tribe returns home to Historic Grainger Stadium starting this Sunday for a three game homestand!
