Four Former 'Cats in Futures Game

Lynchburg, VA- Four former Hillcats, including 2011 starting pitcher Arodys Vizcaino, were chosen to play in the XM Futures Game during the MLB All-Star festivities.
Vizcaino was named as a pitcher for the World team. He pitched for the Hillcats before being called up to Double-A Mississippi May 29. Vizcaino was 2-2 with a 2.45 ERA in nine starts for Lynchburg in that span. He also won the Carolina League Pitcher of the Week for the week of May 9-15. Since joining Mississippi, he is 2-1 with a 3.51 ERA in four starts.
A player from the 2010 Hillcats squad, Devin Mesoraco, was named to the US team. Mesoraco is currently playing for Triple-A Louisville in the Reds' system. He played 43 games for the hillcats in 2010. He hit .335 with 10 home runs and 31 RBI, and was Carolina League Player of the Week for the week of May 10-16, 2010. Currently he's hitting .315 for Louisville.
A pair of players from the 2009 team will join them in the game. Chase d'Arnaud, who was called up to the Pittsburgh Pirates this week, and Starling Marte both spent time in Lynchburg in 2009. d'Arnaud hit .295 with four home runs and 26 RBI in 54 games with the Hillcats. Marte, currently playing for Triple-A Indianapolis, played one game for the Hillcats. He was 2-for-2 with an RBI in the game.
The XM Futures Game will be played on July 10 in Phoenix. It will be televised on ESPN2 at 6 pm.
