Plourde to miss Kelly Cup Playoffs

Fresno, Calif. - The Fresno Falcons announced today that center J.F. Plourde will not return to action this season, and will miss the entirety of the 2007 Kelly Cup Playoffs. Plourde will continue to assist head coach Matt Thomas and assistant coach Ryan Mougenel as he has done throughout the 2006-07 season.
Plourde has sat out this season recovering from a fractured vertebra suffered in a game at Stockton last April. He did appear in five games earlier in the season to meet the ECHL requirement of playing in five games to qualify for the playoff roster, but it was decided last week that he is not recovered fully enough to appear on the playoff roster.
"I am obviously disappointed about these latest developments, but, at the same time, I am happy that I am healthy following the injury," Plourde said. "I look forward to continuing to assist the coaching staff as we begin our playoff run and look to bring a championship to Fresno."
"We had held out hope all season that J.F. would be able to re-join our line-up," Falcons Head Coach and General Manager Matt Thomas said. "Obviously, we are disappointed that he won't be on the ice in the playoffs, but the most important thing is that J.F. is healthy and has no lingering effects from last year's injury."
The Falcons conclude then regular season with three games this week, beginning with a 7:00 p.m. face-off Wednesday in Stockton. Fresno returns home on Friday, hosting the Long Beach Ice Dogs at 7:30 p.m. The first 2,000 fans in attendance receive a Luke Curtin bobblehead, courtesy of Eye-Q Vision Care.

All Falcons' games air on 1550 and 96.1 Sporting News Radio starting with the Port of Subs Pre-Game Show 15 minutes prior to face off.
