Soo Greyhounds News Release

FLINT, MI- Forty-eight hours after a home ice loss against the Firebirds, the Soo Greyhounds wouldn't relinquish the opportunity that presented itself, for the second game in a row on Friday.

After building up a 3-0 second period lead, the Hounds saw Flint climb within a goal before mathematically securing their playoff spot thanks to two goals of their own in the third period.

"I thought we were just OK. I thought we played well enough to win tonight" began Hounds Head Coach Drew Bannister.

"We did some good things and then we did some things that were uncharacteristic, but overall it was good enough to win tonight" he continued.

MORGAN FROST (1g, 1a) was named the Red Star First Star of the Game for the second straight game, while being one of five Hounds with multi-point nights.

Other Greyhound goals were added by JACK KOPACKA (18), BLAKE SPEERS (17), GUSTAV BOURAMMAN (5) and COLTON WHITE (8).

The Bouramman tally came at the 9:05 mark of the third period, and came minutes after the Firebirds cut the Hounds lead to 3-2.

"It was a good bounce back. We got a little bit of a lucky bounce off the linesman and then we jumped up into the play, caught them on a line change. It changed the direction of the game again" said Bannister.

The Hounds were 1-for-4 on the powerplay and 2-for-2 on the penalty kill.
