Manchester Monarchs News Release

PLAYER PROFILE: TIM JACKMAN - There's nothing like a good hockey fight to get fans out of their seats, fists in the air, adrenaline pumping. It's a staple at most hockey games, and fans come to love a good, hard-hitting physical presence on their team. For the Monarchs, 24-year-old North Dakota native Tim Jackman may be just that presence.

At 6-foot-4, 210-pounds, Jackman is definitely not the runt of the litter. A second round pick (38th overall) by the Columbus Blue Jackets in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft, Jackman has had an eclectic career. As both an enforcer and a goal-scorer, he's gone from the AHL to the NHL and back again, scoring goals and wracking up penalty minutes. During the 2004-05 season, Jackman had a solid 14 goals, 21 assists and 98 penalty minutes playing with the Syracuse Crunch. The following season, while playing for the San Antonio Rampage, he wowed fans and rivals alike by managing to accumulate 20 points even with a whopping 127 penalty minutes.

After a somewhat inauspicious eight games with the Phoenix Coyotes, Jackman spent the end of the 2005-06 season with the Monarchs, tallying five points and 33 penalty minutes. He came up with three solid points in the playoffs and added another 20 penalty minutes to his record.

Currently sporting a one-year contract with the Los Angeles Kings, Jackman is not a player to be taken lightly. He has something to prove, and if his history so far is any indication, Jackman won't be a disappointment. He has a tendency to hit hard, play hard and score when it counts. Both figuratively and literally, Tim Jackman is an unyielding presence on the team, for the fans and within the sport itself.
