SAINT PAUL/MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - Minnesota Sports & Entertainment (MSE) Executive Vice President Matt Majka announced today that the organization has named Tom Garrity as Vice President of Minor League Properties. Garrity will continue to serve as team president of the American Hockey League's Houston Aeros for a fourth season and is entering his second season as vice president, business operations of the National Lacrosse League's Minnesota Swarm. Garrity and his family are currently in the process of relocating to the Twin Cities area.

"We're very pleased to have Tom joining us in the Twin Cities, a move we are sure will be beneficial for him both personally and professionally," Majka said. "Tom plays a pivotal role with this organization, and the impact of having his personality and insight at our Saint Paul offices will prove invaluable."

Garrity, 42 (1/8/64), will continue to meet a vital need for MSE, using the expertise he's acquired in his 15-year career in sports administration to coordinate business efforts for both the Aeros and Swarm.

Shortly after the Aeros won their first Calder Cup Championship in 2003, Minnesota Sports & Entertainment acquired controlling interest of the Aeros and hired Garrity as team president. Since that time, the Aeros have seen attendance increases in each of the past three seasons. The Aeros had never increased attendance over a prior season before Minnesota Sports & Entertainment's purchase. In addition to overseeing Houston's overall business operations including marketing, advertising, communications, promotions and ticket sales, he guides the team's budget development and corporate partnerships.

Garrity came to the Aeros after serving as president of the AHL's Cincinnati Mighty Ducks. He was named the second president in franchise history on May 4, 2001, after spending the previous two seasons as the club's senior vice president. In his first season as president in 2001-2002, the Mighty Ducks attracted a franchise record 218,384 fans. In 2002-03, Cincinnati established franchise records in sponsorship, season ticket and group sales.

Prior to joining the Mighty Ducks, Garrity served as director of corporate training for Game Face Marketing in Portland, Ore. His successful 15-year career in sports administration and sales has included occupation with the NHL's Minnesota North Stars and Dallas Stars, the National Basketball Association's (NBA) Minnesota Timberwolves, Major League Soccer's (MLS) San Jose Clash and at the collegiate level with the University of Minnesota.

The University of Wisconsin at Platteville graduate is a native of Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin. Garrity and his wife, Gina, have three children - daughters Caitlyn and Ceira and a son, Connor.
