Asheville Tourists News Release

ASHEVILLE - The Asheville Tourists and the Lexington Legends played a double-header for the second straight day on Saturday. After splitting the twin bill on Friday, Asheville won both contests the second time around; 7-1 in game one and 5-3 in game two.

Lucas Gilbreath earned the win in game one with five strong innings pitched for Asheville. The Tourists built an early lead for Gilbreath with two runs in the first frame. Sean Bouchard's RBI double was a key hit in the rally. Asheville tacked on another in the third on a Ramon Marcelino RBI single.

In the fourth, the Tourists doubled their lead with a three-run frame. Ryan Vilade plated a run with an RBI single and Chad Spanberger ripped a two-run double into the right-field corner. Bret Boswell added a solo Home Run in the seventh for good measure.

Game two was a little closer but the Tourists once again received great pitching performances. Justin Valdespina tossed four innings in a spot start and Braxton Lorenzini followed with two shutout innings.

Asheville scored three runs in the first inning thanks to a Spanberger RBI double and a Marcelino two-run Home Run. After the Legends tied the score, Robbie Perkins broke the tie with a solo Home Run in the bottom of the fourth.

Spanberger then hit a lead-off Home Run in the sixth to give the Tourists a 5-3 lead. Robert Tyler entered in the top of the seventh and worked a one, two, three inning for his third save of the season.

Asheville has won three straight in the series and matched their longest win streak of the season with the game two victory. Sunday's series finale against the Legends is set for a 2:05pm first pitch.
