ABOUT LAST GAME: Columbia bounced back on Friday and defeated the Augusta GreenJackets, 4-1. The Fireflies snapped their seven-game losing streak and tasted victory for the first time since May 31. Columbia tied the score with a sixth-inning run and then took a lead for good in the seventh.
THE MIDLANDS' CHAMPION: Ali Sanchez had arguably his best day of the season at the plate on Friday. The catcher drilled a two-run homer, doubled and drove in three runs. The home run was his 2nd in 3 days.
STREAKIN' x2: Gladu is also on a 27-game on-base streak, which is two behind the franchise-record 29-game on-base streak that Jeremy Vasquez recorded from April 5-May 6 of this year.
DÉJA VU?: Columbia faced Augusta's starter Jose Marte once before on Sunday, April 8. The Fireflies tagged the righty for five runs on nine hits and chased him from the mound in the fourth.
WALK IT LIKE I TALK IT: Columbia is one of two teams in MiLB with three players leading their respective league in total walks, the other being the Fresno Grizzlies (HOU):
South Atlantic League (Low A) Pacific Coast League (AAA)
1. Blake Tiberi (COL) - 37 1. Drew Ferguson (Fresno), 41
2. Jeremy Vasquez (COL) - 33 T-2. A.J. Reed (Fresno), 38
3. Matt Winaker (COL) - 32 T-2. Tyler White (Fresno), 38
THE GIO CLUB: Gio Alfonzo has driven in four runs over his last four games. The 25-year-old is hitting .275 at home this season as opposed to just .225 on the road. Alfonzo became the first Firefly to hit a grand slam at Spirit Communications Park in team history (May 5, 2018).
