FC Dallas News Release

Pizza Hut Park will make its debut on August 6, 2005 when FC Dallas hosts the MetroStars. The 21,193-seat soccer specific stadium and the 17 regulation-sized, tournament-grade soccer fields adjacent to the stadium will be the first of its kind in the United States and is now 26 days away from its historic opening.

This Pizza Hut Park Progress Report is meant to update the public on the status of the facility leading up to Opening Day. The report will be sent out twice a week with facts and figures regarding Pizza Hut Park and how the construction on the 117-acre complex is heading towards completion in several key categories. Each report will have a few important categories and their present status.

Stadium Playing Field

The stadium playing field at Pizza Hut Park consists of 1,650 cubic yards of drainage gravel, 3,600 feet of drainage pipe and 3,500 tons of a USGA approved "root zone" mix.

The "root zone" consists of 85% coarse sand and 15% organic matter. The turf consists of 10,750 square yards of "Texas Grown" Tifway 419 Bermuda.

The perimeter of the playing field is bordered by 1,250 linear feet of "Channel Drain", which in conjunction with the underground drainage piping, will accommodate the requirement for the 100 year event for rainfall, which is approximately 8.75 inches of rainfall in one hour.

The irrigation system is capable of delivering 120 gallons per minutes (GPM) @ 90 pounds per square inch (psi) through 50 TORO rotary type sprinkler heads.

The stadium playing field is 100% complete.

FC Dallas, a charter member club of Major League Soccer, will begin play in the new 21,193 seat soccer stadium on August 6, 2005. The 117-acre facility will be located at the intersection of Main Street and Dallas North Tollway in Frisco. Pizza Hut Park will accommodate Major League Soccer matches, major concerts, international soccer matches and High School football. Adjacent to the stadium will be 17 regulation-sized, tournament-grade soccer fields which will be utilized on a year-round basis. Join us as we celebrate Major League Soccer's 10th season.
