FC DALLAS WEEKLY UPDATE (July 12 - 16)
FC DALLAS HEADS ON ROAD TRIP BEFORE OPENING PIZZA HUT PARK: FC Dallas returns to play after their bye week with a road match this Saturday at New England (6 p.m. Central). The game in New England will be the first of three straight for the team on the road as they also travel to play Real Salt Lake on Saturday, July 23 and the MetroStars on Wednesday, July 27. They will then be home for the grand opening of Pizza Hut Park on Saturday, August 6 versus the MetroStars.
The squad is currently in first place in the Western Conference with a 10-2-4 record for 34 points. The 34 points after 16 matches is the best start for the club in team history and they are now unbeaten in 10 of their past 11 matches (7-1-3).
The New England match on Saturday will be televised on MLS Direct Kick and can be heard on English Radio (KFCD - 990 AM) and on Spanish Radio (Radio AYO KZMP - 1540 AM).
FC DALLAS SET TO BEGIN U.S. OPEN CUP PLAY ON WEDNESDAY: FC Dallas will begin play in the 2005 U.S. Open Cup by hosting the Wilmington Hammerheads of the United Soccer League Second Division (USL-2) this Wednesday, July 13 at 7 p.m. at the University of Texas at Dallas (located at intersection of Waterview and Campbell in Richardson). Tickets for the match, which will be available at the stadium beginning at 5:30 p.m., will be $5. If FC Dallas wins on July 13 they will travel to Ohio to take on the Columbus Crew (MLS) on August 3 at Jesse Owens Stadium.
MLS ALL-STAR STARTERS TO BE ANNOUNCED ON JULY 13: The MLS All-Star starting XI will be announced on Wednesday, July 13. The starters are determined by online fan balloting comprising 25 percent of the total vote, with MLS coaches and GMs (25 percent), media (25 percent) and players (25 percent) accounting for the remainder. On Thursday, July 14, FC Dallas Head Coach Colin Clarke and his staff will select five All-Star Game reserves, who will join two other Commissioner selections to comprise the MLS 18-man roster.
FC DALLAS WEEKLY HEADS TO DAVE AND BUSTER'S IN FRISCO: Please join us this week for the weekly FC Dallas Radio Show with Ray Canevari on KFCD 990 AM. "FC Dallas Weekly" airs every Thursday from 6 - 7 p.m. on KFCD. Continuing this week, Canevari and KFCD will take the weekly show to Dave and Buster's at the Stonebriar Mall in Frisco. This week, Canevari is scheduled to have interviews with Head Coach Colin Clarke and FC Dallas forward Abe Thompson.
