Pittsfield Colonials News Release

RAMAPO, NY - The Pittsfield Colonials had runners in scoring position in four of the last six innings, but were able to dent the scoreboard in only one of those innings as the Colonials fell to the Rockland Boulders 3-2.

The Colonials got on the board in the top of the first inning as after a single by Danny Bomback and a double by Billy Mottram, Angel Molina lifted a sac fly to center to score Bomback for a 1-0 Pittsfield lead. Rockland would counter in the bottom of the inning with three runs including RBI hits from Ryan Mollica, Norm Hutchins and Cole Kraft for a 3-1 Boulders advantage.

The game would remain that way until the eighth as Miguel Flores shut down the Boulders from the second inning on, at one point, retiring 17 of 19 batters.

Pittsfield had their chances, but didn't crack the scoreboard again until the eighth when Matt Nandin singled home Peter Fatse to cut the Boulders lead to 3-2. Following that single Adrian Martin came on and recorded the final four outs for his 18th save.

Picking up the win was Will Hassett (6-5) who allowed one run on six hits in 5.1 innings. Flores (3-9) took the tough luck loss for Pittsfield, striking out six and not allowing a run after the first. Flores now has 94 strikeouts on the season, which establishes a new career-high and takes over the league lead in punchouts from Isaac Pavlik of New Jersey.

Overall in the game, Pittsfield went 2-for-12 with runners in scoring position.

The Colonials and Boulders wrap up their series Thursday at 7:05 p.m. Chad Paronto (7-6, 4.11) gets the start for Pittsfield against Bobby Blevins (6-6. 3.83) for the Rockland. The pregame show on pittsfieldcolonials.comwill begin at 6:45 p.m. The Colonials head to Quebec on Friday for a three game weekend series. All three games of the series will be broadcast on 89.7 WTBR FM.
