Pitching Holds Firm As Win Streak Advances To Six

Lancaster scored two runs in the first inning on Saturday evening, and the pitching took care of the York Revolution from there.

Dwayne Pollok and three relievers shut down the York Revolution on Saturday evening as the Barnstormers won their sixth straight game, 3-1, at Sovereign Bank Stadium.

The Barnstormers strung together four consecutive two-out singles in the first against Omar Javier (1-6) to put York in the hole. Tommy Everidge started the chain of hits with a single over the head of left fielder James Shanks. Shanks bobbled the ball off the wall, allowing Everidge to move to second. He scored on Jaime Pedroza's ground single into right field, and Pedroza took second when the throw home escaped Travis Scott's grasp. Ryan Harvey lined a single over shortstop Danny Gonzalez to drive Pedroza home. Emerson Frostad kept the string going with a single to right before Javier retired Kody Kirkland on a soft liner to short to end the inning.

Lancaster's offense went dormant for the next six innings, producing only two infield singles by Bridger Hunt.

Pollok allowed a single per inning for the first five frames. He was reached only in the fifth when Blake Gailen dropped Andres Perez' fly ball, allowing him to reach second. Perez advanced to third on a wild pitch and scored when James Shanks rolled a single up the middle.

York threatened with two outs in the seventh. Kyle Haines broke up a streak of six straight outs for Pollok with a single punched to left. Jeff Fiorentino drilled a single into right, putting two runners aboard. Acting manager Lance Burkhart had Beau Vaughan ready in the bullpen, and the right-hander fanned Scott Grimes to end the inning.

Jeff Bennett yielded a leadoff single in the eighth but coaxed a double play out of Perez. Tim Hamulack worked a perfect ninth for his 15th save, after Fehlandt Lentini had singled home Brad Boyer with an insurance run in the top of the inning.

The Barnstormers will wrap up the series Sunday at 5:00. Lancaster will send Alan Johnson (7-4) to the hill against Revs all-time leading winner Corey Thurman (8-1). Fans may tune into 1390-AM, WLAN; 1600-AM, WPDC; 1390wlan.com or the I Heart Radio cell phone app at 4:45.
