Heath Phillips took the mound on four days rest for the Skeeters in its first game out of the All-Star break. Early on, the lefty gave up a few runs in the first inning but settled down nicely from the second inning through the fifth.

Blue Crabs center fielder Jeremy Owens led off the game with a double down the left-field line. In the at-bat that followed, right fielder Mike Daniel grounded Owen over to third and reached on a fielder's choice when Skeeters catcher Octavio Martinez tried to get the runner out advancing to third. The throw was late putting runners on the corners with no outs. One batter later, left fielder Brian Barton brought Owens home on a groundout to second to give the visitors the lead, 1-0. Second baseman Casey Benjamin walked to put runners on the edges again, and designated-hitter Travis Garcia smacked a double to bring Daniel around to increase the lead, 2-0.

Dan Reichert made his Atlantic League tying 15th start of the season and his third against the Skeeters this year. Sugar Land tagged him in the bottom of the first to get its scoring started. Second baseman Dominic Ramos led off with a triple into right-center field to put a runner in scoring position for shortstop Ofilio Castro. The third baseman grounded out to second, but Ramos scored on the play to halve the lead, 2-1.

Both teams were held scoreless from the second to the seventh, but the Skeeters found a way to tie it in the bottom of the eighth and both starters ended up with a no-decision.

Bubba Bell reached with a leadoff single up the middle and advanced to third on an error from shortstop Kevin Rios on a Jason Lane grounder. In the next at-bat, Josh Pressley picked up his 36th RBI of the season with a sac-fly in center to even the score, 2-2.

The game ended up in extras for the fourth time at home this season. In the top of the tenth, Southern Maryland took the lead on an RBI double from Casey Benjamin with two on and two out to put the visitors ahead, 3-2. Closer Jim Ed Warden registered the save (8) to secure Eduardo Morlan (2-2) the win and nip Jusef Frias (0-1) with the loss.
