Jamestown Jammers News Release

JAMESTOWN, NY -After sweeping a doubleheader Thursday night at Diethrick Park, the Jamestown Jammers found themselves locked in a pitcher's duel against the Hudson Valley Renegades Friday evening. Unfortunately, the Jammers came up just a little bit short, and would ultimately fall to Hudson Valley, by the score of 2-1.

The game would be tied at 1 heading into the top of the seventh inning, where the Renegades would push across the game winning run off Jamestown reliever Jerry Mulderig. Right fielder Bralin Jackson would begin the seventh inning rally with a single to right field. Jackson would steal second, and then score on an RBI single by Hudson Valley catcher Wilmer Dominguez to put the Renegades up 2-1.

Hudson Valley's first run came in the top of the second inning. Second basemen Jace Conrad would begin the inning by reaching on an error by Jamestown second basemen Erik Lunde. Third basemen Coty Blanchard struck out, but Jackson singled to right field to move Conrad to third. With runners on the corners, and one out, Conrad and Jackson would execute a double steal, with Conrad stealing home, and Jackson stealing second to give the Renegades a 1-0 advantage.

Facing another early deficit, the Jammers would respond with their only run of the game in the bottom of the second. Designated hitter Kevin Krause singled through the hole at shortstop with one out. A wild pitch by Hudson Valley starter Jose Alonzo allowed Krause to advance to second, and Krause would then steal third base to put a runner on third for the Jammers with only one down. Third basemen Chase Simpson would connect on an RBI double off the wall in right field to score Krause, and knot the game at 1, before Hudson Valley would take the lead for good in the top half of the seventh inning. Krause, Simpson, and Kevin Ross (2) picked up the four Jammer hits.

On the mound for Jamestown, Jake Brigham made his second start for the Jammers on his rehab assingment from Triple-A Indianapolis. In four innings of work, Brigham would surrender four hits, one run (which was unearned), two walks, and struck out four Renegades. Jose Regalado would relieve Brigham in the top of the fifth inning, and would fire two perfect innings, while striking out one. Jerry Mulderig would enter the game in the seventh, and would give up the go-ahead single to Dominguez, but would limit the damage to that. Julio Euesbio worked the final two innings for the Jammers, and would only give up one hit, while also striking out one.
