Myrtle Beach Pelicans News Release
WILMINGTON, Del. - The Myrtle Beach Pelicans' pitching stymied the Wilmington Blue Rocks on Friday night in a 2-1 win from Frawley Stadium.
The Blue Rocks (29-19) scored their lone run in the bottom of the first inning off of Pelicans (18-31) starter Erling Moreno (3-4). After Blake Perkins was hit by a pitch to begin the game, he moved to second on a wild pitch, to third on a ground ball and scored on another wild pitch.
Moreno earned the win in dominant fashion, going five innings, allowing a run on two hits while striking out three and walking four.
The Pelicans backed the righty in the second when Kevonte Mitchell grounded into a double play, plating Cam Balego, to tie the game at 1-1.
In the fourth, Aramis Ademan singled with two outs, scooted to second on a wild pitch, headed to third on an error and scored on another wild pitch to stake the Pelicans to a 2-1 lead.
Tyler Peyton then threw two scoreless innings out of the bullpen and Ryan Lawlor locked up the six-out save, striking out five of the six men he faced.
Game two of the Pelicans' four-game series in Wilmington against the Blue Rocks is on Saturday at 6:05 p.m. The Pelicans will send LHP Luis Lugo (1-1, 3.67) while LHP Daniel Lynch (3-2, 3.45) will go for the Blue Rocks.
