Corpus Christi, TX - The Arkansas Travelers rode outstanding pitching to a 3-2 victory over the Corpus Christi Hooks on Friday night. Stephen Kolek set the tone working five innings of one run ball with eight strikeouts on the way to his first win of the season. He bounced back after surrendering a leadoff homer and did not let the Hooks score the rest of the night. Braden Shipley (2 IP), Travis Kuhn (IP) and Michael Stryffeler (IP) closed out the game. Stryffeler picked up his fourth save of the season.
Moments That Mattered
* The Travs scored three times in the third inning. Jake Scheiner, Zach DeLoach and Jack Larsen each drove in a run.
* Stryffeler put the first three batters of the ninth inning on for free with a walk, a hit batter and another walk. He responded by striking out three straight hitters, the 2, 3 and 4 spots in the Hooks lineup, to end the game.
