DES MOINES - The Massachusetts Pirates (3-2) won, 56-36, over the Iowa Barnstormers (0-5) at the DCU Center in Worcester, Massachusetts on Friday, April 28.

The first quarter started and ended one sided when Pirates running back Jimmie Robinson rushed it in for a Massachusetts opening touchdown. The kick was successful by Josh Gable to make it 7-0. Iowa's offense charged all the way down the field but couldn't put it in the end zone. Massachusetts quarterback Anthony Russo threw a strike all the way down field to wide receiver Darron Carrington, ending the quarter 14-0.

The Massachusetts offense continued to dominate when Robinson charged in for a touchdown, the PAT was unsuccessful by Gable to make the score 20-0. Massachusetts piled on the points when Russo threw a deep touchdown pass to Thomas Owens, taking a 27-0 lead. The Barnstormers tried to claw back with a strike from quarterback Jonathan Bane to wide receiver Keshaun Taylor. PAT was successful by Gabriel Rui, 27-7. Bane threw another touchdown pass to wide receiver Caleb Smith to begin closing the gap, 27-14.

The third quarter started off hot for Massachusetts with a rushing touchdown from Robinson, extending their lead 34-14. Bane then connected to Taylor with a beautiful throw for the second time of the night, cutting the Pirates' lead 34-21. After a Barnstormers fumble, Massachusetts kept scoring with another Robinson rushing touchdown, 41-21.

The Barnstormers did not give up, Bane once again connected with Smith, 41-28. Barnstormers Gabriel Rui then nailed a perfect deuce, adding two more to the board. Robinson ran all the way down the field and scored another rushing touchdown, a successful two-point conversion kept the Pirates ahead, 49-30. Bane and Smith were able to connect for the third time tonight, but the PAT was blocked, 49-36. Robinson did not stop as he went for his sixth touchdown of the night, closing the game at 56-36.
